In saying "YES!" to my dress, I learned a very important lesson: Let the artist do what he does best and stay out of the way. David Meister designed my blue silk wedding gown. We talked about going with an "Old Hollywood" look - not a traditional white wedding gown, but something glamorous and beautiful.
When I went in for my initial fitting, I kept asking David to make changes. I wasn't excited about the plunging neckline, and he kept insisting that he be allowed to "sex it up." When Tom came with me for a subsequent fitting, I'm embarrassed to say that Tom thought it looked "matronly." At that point, I gave up and decided to let David do his job and express his vision for the dress. We were thrilled with the results - I loved the jeweled decolletage and the slit "up to there."
"I do not know how to describe how I felt when she walked down the aisle," Tom said of the finished product. I think he liked it, as he was a little teary eyed when I got to the altar, and so was I!
Tom's sister Angela and his sister-in-law Robin helped me button up, as we had more than 30 buttons to fasten up the back, no fakes with zippers here!
I'm so glad I finally said YES to the dress. I love my gown, and at one point, the Malibu sky matched the ocean-blue color. David is designing my gown for the Screen Actors Guild Awards on January 29th, and I've learned my lesson: He's got free rein on this one!
Here's our photo album of my Dress - from getting fitted to getting dressed to walking down the aisle! Enjoy!
