One of the biggest questions anyone faces when they lose weight or make a major life change is, “Now what?”
With my new book, Finding It, I’m doing my very best to answer that question for myself. My son Wolfie is growing up and falling in love, and let’s face it, getting your sex talk from Eddie Van Halen wasn’t recommended in any of the parenting books I read.
As my relationship with my boyfriend Tom has deepens, we face new challenges in blending our families. Being with him and learning about his faith, I’ve realized that I crave a deeper sense of spirituality. I have experienced days of inner peace and connectedness with a larger spirit – twice. Why not more often? What I’ve learned is God wants you to enjoy desserts – even when you’re on a diet.
Yes, dieting fixes one problem, but to maintain that weight loss, you have to work on everything else. Finding It is my version of “everything else!” My publisher Free Press has put together a busy schedule of signings and appearances for me. Please come out and see me!
My very best to you ~ Val.

I have gone thru similar struggles, including current relationship with sig other with possible alcoholism. I can relate to so much that i have read, different yet the same.
You hit the nail on the head on page 133 of 'Finding It' in one sentence. "At their core are simple values that i admire, like honesty, trust, hard work, and a sense... ..., of busting your ass to get the most out of life". This is what i need for peace in my life & you gave me the words to describe it.
Also your text from Corinthians 13:4-7, hit home. This is exactly what i need in my relationship that is largely missing. Maybe your book is my 'sign'. Who would've thought a book written by a celebrity would give me answers after all the self-help books I've read.
Thank you for sharing yourself. I am sure you have no idea how much of a positive impact you have had on others' lives by sharing.

P.S. Can you tell me what if there is a significance and meaning to the squiggly symbol you have at the begining of each of your chapters?
Thank you again and keep finding it!
I have been a fan of yours since "One Day at a Time." I love your new show, "Hot in Cleveland." You look great! While living in NYC in the 80s, I wrote a novel about my life there. I always thought that if my book became a movie that you could play me! Please check out my regular blog and my book blog sometime! Do you have any suggestions? Wish you well!

I have been a fan of your since one day at a time. I found both your books such an inspiration. I myself have struggled with weight issues. But because of you I have been on my ww diet now. I have lost 5.2 pounds already. My goal is to lose another 40. Thank you for your courage and total honesty.
I am inspired by your book and by you! My name is M. Kate Quinn and my debut novel, "Summer Iris," is a romantic comedy with a 50-year-old heroine that goes to the NJ shore for a summer. I tell everyone that if Lifetime ever does the movie I want Valerie Bertinelli to play Iris. I'd love to send you the book if you'll provide the info.
Feel free to check out me and my work.
Thanks so much!

"It's never too late for the love of a lifetime."
I've been a fan since One Day At A Time. I, too, am 50 (will be 51 next month). I've read "Losing It" and am more than halfway through "Finding It," and I'm loving it--thoroughly enjoying your honesty, candor, and sense of humor. You are truly inspiring and very refreshing, too. And, my husband and I just love Hot In Cleveland! Also want to tell you that Tom sounds like a wonderful person; you are blessed. And, I saw Van Halen back in October, 2007 when they were at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. They rocked the house! I've always loved VH and please tell Wolfie that he was fabulous. It was great to see him play with Ed and the band--it was the best VH concert ever! Best wishes for your continued success and happiness--you deserve it!
Best regards,
Donna P.
