Coming to Cleveland has been a homecoming for the cast of Hot in Cleveland. Though many were initially skeptical and thought our show would be cartooning on Cleveland, our namesake city quickly realized that this show was a love letter to Midwestern values and really more of dig against Los Angeles.
So we have been thrilled by the warm embrace of the city since we arrived this week to premiere the new season of Hot in Cleveland. We had a wonderful premiere party and screening at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Wednesday evening. After the glitz and glamour of a red-carpet walk and screening, I donned my favorite jeans and went with Tom, TV Land president Larry Jones and the TV Land staff in search of a fun place to watch the show on TV.
We found that in Flannery's - a downtown Irish pub that is a Cleveland institution. When we arrived, the pub was packed with folks watching Game 7 of the Stanley Cup - Go Bruins! But the bartender, Joe Rodgers, kindly opened a room with comfy couches and turned on Hot in Cleveland, just in time. About 40 of the pub regulars joined us to watch the show - and they even "bop-bopped" along with our theme song! Flannery's was the perfect place to watch this episode - especially since it was set in an Amish pub with Cheers regular George Wendt guest-starring!
We took photos with everyone who watched with us, and then after one of Joe's excellent martinis, we headed out into the night for one final surprise: One of Cleveland's nicknames is "Tower City" because of its iconic Union Terminal Tower. Our gracious hosts, the Forest City corporation, had bathed the Union Terminal Tower at Tower City Center in a beautiful red light in honor of Hot in Cleveland!
Check out these fun photos from our unforgettable night at Flannery's. |
